Finding Vintage Signs - Part III
As part of this series, I have found yet another place that you might be able to find vintage signs. Why not try checking out Construction, Remodeling or Demolition sites? Think about this; Buildings sit for years and years, sometimes with very little changes for a long time, and then someone buys them and decides to renovate. Who knows what's inside, but many times you will find antiques and in particular, vintage signs.
The vintage signs that you are likely to find in this situation are likely going to be related to the business that is being renovated or torn down. If it's an old gas station, you might find oil or gas signs. If it's an old grocery store, you might find old signs related to food or canned goods. Happy sign hunting!

Hi Sandy,
Your plastic wrapped Lionel metal sign is most likely to be a reproduction and not a vintage original. The value would be approx $10. Single original vintage signs, in fair condition, are typically sold today for hundreds, and sometimes thousands of dollars each.
Hope this helps.
