Vintage Smokey The Bear Sign
I saw an interesting vintage sign listed for sale and it brought back some memories. I fondly remember Smokey Bear teaching us about forest fires when I was a child. Who can forget the phrase that Smokey repeated time and time again; "Only You Can Prevent Forest Fires". This was a slogan that I can remember now 30 years later and its still clear in my mind.
I loved Smokey Bear, but the threat of forest fires in my area was pretty slim since there really wasn't too much forest around. Oh well, the vintage tin sign that I saw for sale sure brought back memories, and I guess that's what antiques do. They help us to remember times long gone and maybe loved ones who have since passed away. Thinking about Smokey the Bear makes me think of so many other things that were associated with that time in my life; School, playing outside, my friends. Those were good times!
