Vintage Texaco Signs
Vintage Texaco signs show off the rich heritage of the automotive and oil industry in the United States like no other. Perhaps one of the most recognizable logos in the United States, Texaco has been around since 1901, originally called the Texas Oil Company. The company grew over the years and at one point it was the only oil company selling gas in all 50 states. The company name was eventually changed to Texaco in 1959. They had been using the brand name "Texaco" for many years and changed the name to take advantage of the popular brand name that they had created.
Over the years Texaco continued to grow and acquire other companies, but ran into financial trouble in 1987, filing for bankruptcy protection. After this tough time Texaco started selling off various assets until it merged with Chevron in 2001. The Texaco brand name is still strong throughout the United States and new Texaco branded stations were opened starting again in 2006.
